Mary Catherine "Ann" (Ivy) Kennedy (1936 - 2014)

Mary Catherine "Ann" Kennedy, of Monmouth, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth.

She was born July 31, 1936, in Tyronza, Ariz., to Flavis and Estelle (McCanless) Ivy. She married John G. Kennedy in Hernando, Miss., on July 27, 1956.

Mrs. Kennedy is survived by her children, John (Dianna) Kennedy Jr. of Monmouth, and Julie Ann Ward of Monmouth; sisters Gwen Hooker, Dorothy Teague, Joyce Bickerstaff, Eva Jane Maupin, and Beverly Thorn; brothers Harold Ivy, Gene Ivy, Jim Ivy, Joe Ivy, Sam Maupin, and Phillip Maupin; grandchildren Ross (Cynthia) Kennedy, Shea Ward, and Olivia Kennedy; and great-grandchildren Ethan Kennedy, Claire Kennedy, and Alayna Saul. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband on Oct. 29, 2012; her parents; her step-father, R.C. Maupin; her step-mother, Audie Ivy; and brothers John Ivy, Joney Ivy, and David Maupin.

Mary was a longtime volunteer with the American Red Cross, a partner in the family fertilizer business, and active in numerous community service organizations over the years. Above all, she was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, sister, and grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family.

A visitation at Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville preceded graveside services at Fairview Methodist Cemetery in Chandlerville on Saturday, March 15, 2014. Services were officiated by her sister, Pastor Gwen Hooker. Cremation rites were accorded. Memorials have been directed to benefit the Fairview Methodist Church Cemetery Fund in care of Hurley Funeral Home, Havana.
