Vincent J. Novello, 67, of Jacksonville and formerly of Chicago, died Monday, April 14, 2014, at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born Jan. 17, 1947, in Casteldaccia, Sicily, the son of Salvatore (Sam) and Maddalena (Lena) Calo Novello. He married Catherine G. Harris on Nov. 19, 1966, and she survives.
He is also survived by his mother, Lena of Jacksonville; two sons, Salvatore Novello of Chicago, and Anthony Novello of Jacksonville; one grandson Nicholas Novello of Berwyn; and two brothers, Tom (Bonnie) Novello of Elgin, and Joe (Debbie) Novello of Addison. He was preceded in death by his father; and a daughter, Stephanie Novello.
Vince was a maintenance worker in the Chicago area for 35 years. He camped all over the country, and enjoyed gardening. He loved dogs, especially Ogden, who loved to chase tennis balls. Vince was of the Catholic faith.
A graveside service will be held noon Friday at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago. Family will meet friends 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to
