Dora Mae Baird, 74, of Winchester passed away Thursday April 17, 2014, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.
Dora , the daughter of the late Clifford and Dorothy Reining and the late Ed Shelton, was born February 8, 1940, in Florence. She married Harold W. Baird on May 4, 1957, in Bluffs, and they were married for nearly 57 years.
Dora had many interests, including gardening, flowers crafts in her shop and especially painting with oils. More than anything else she cherished her time with her family.
Dora is survived by her husband, Harold W. Baird, at home; three children, Carol (Terry) Farrell of Eureka, Mo., Peggy (Brian) Basham of Maumelle, Ark., and Paul (Thomasina) Baird of Winchester; and a daughter-in-law, Patty Baird of Washington. Also surviving are her sister, Jean Isringhausen of Jerseyville; two bothers, Joe (Brenda) Shelton of Cottage Hills and Bob Shelton of Valley City; a half sister, Lynne (John) Thomas of Jerseyville; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. As part of a large extended family, she also leaves behind many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins and many many friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Michael Baird; and a half brother, Gary Shelton.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Pallbearers will be Paul Baird, Joe Kline, Brian Basham, Terry Farrell and Joe Baird; there will be an open spot in memory of her late son, Mike Baird. Burial will be at Blue River Cemetery near Detroit. Friends may call from noon Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
