Howard L. Timmons, 72, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Fla. He was born June 24, 1941, in Jacksonville, the son of Marjorie L. McDevitt Timmons. He married Catherine Ann Kindred on April 8, 1963, in Quincy, and she survives.
He is also survived by two children, Tracy L. (wife, Kirsten) Timmons, and Michelle D. "Missy" (husband, Ted) Young, both of Jacksonville; and two grandchildren, Emily Nicole, and Jacob William Timmons.
Howard earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois College and was a professional civil engineer for the State of Illinois Department of Transportation for many years. After retiring from the state, he served as county engineer for Pike and Brown counties. He was a life member of the Jacksonville Elks, a member of the Jacksonville Moose, and a founding member of Pine Point Campground at Lake Jacksonville. During his years of retirement Howard kept busy with carpentry projects, golfing, and spending winters in Florida. He loved socializing with friends at the Elks and Barney's.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Williamson Funeral Home. The family will meet friends from noon until the time of service on Saturday. A reception will be held at Barney's in Jacksonville following the service. Private interment will be held. Memorials are suggested to the
