Harold E. Boes, 87, of Hannibal, Mo., and formerly of Scott County, Ill., passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal. He was born Feb. 26, 1927, in Winchester, Ill., the son of Rudolph "Rudy" and Bertha Wilson Boes. He married Geraldine Brown on Dec. 3, 1949, in Pittsfield, Ill.
Surviving is his wife, Geraldine, of Hannibal; four daughters, Peggy L. (Jerry) Meyer of Grafton, Ill., Brenda G. (David) Peterson of Rock Island, Ill., Debra L. (Gary) Evans of Winchester and Karan L. (Joe) Noonan of Hannibal; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Norma Stice of Alton, Ill., and Doris Lashmet of Springfield, Ill. One grandchild and six brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Boes was a lifelong farmer, raising both grain and livestock. He was a devoted family man who looked forward to spending time with his family, including his extended family during family reunions. Harold's life can be summed up by saying he worked hard all his life.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Daws Family Funeral Home in Winchester with interment at Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hannibal Regional Hospital or Autism Research.
