Ronald Lee Greenwood, 80, of Jacksonville passed away Sunday afternoon, May 11, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born February 10, 1934, in Jacksonville, the son of Curtis E. and Virginia Lindsey Greenwood. He married Viola Flynn on January 26, 1953, in Pocahontas, Ark., and she survives.
He also is survived by three daughters, Debra Lynn (husband, Tim) Smith, Marsha Lee (husband, Nayan) Saikia and Lisa Ann (husband, Scott) Jess, all of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Curtis (wife, Jane) Greenwood of Melbourne, Fla.; two sisters, Patricia (husband, Dean) Bilyeu and Ginny (deceased husband, Kenneth) Rhoades, both of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and his mother and stepfather, Walter H. and Virginia Carson.
Mr. Greenwood, alongside his wife, owned and operated Royale Rug Cleaners in Jacksonville for many years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved sharing his love for the Savior with those he came in contact with. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, mushroom hunting, picking up walnuts and being outdoors.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with burial at Jacksonville East Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the
