John Edward Dobson, 80, of Jacksonville died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at St. John's Hospice in Springfield.
He was born May 20, 1934, in Jacksonville, the son of Harry Benjamin and Fred Ernestine Willner Dobson.
John is survived by one daughter, Lin (husband, Verne) Logan of Johnston, Iowa; two grandchildren, Matthew Leslie (wife, Raysene) Logan of St. Louis, Missouri, and Elizabeth Dianne (husband, Judson) Ritter of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; one great-grandson, Logan Ritter of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Robert (wife, Sharon) Dobson of Murrayville and William (wife, Sharon) Dobson of Jacksonville; two half brothers, James Richard Dobson and Kevin Dobson, and one half sister, Karen "Susie" Samples, all of Springfield. One brother, Harry Dobson Jr., and one sister, Florecia Klopfer, preceded him in death.
John was a truck driver for many years. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed raising horses and was an avid fan of rodeo and bull riding. John loved spending time with his family.
A private service will be held with burial at Jacksonville East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the
