SPRINGFIELD - Mary Frances Duty, 78, of Springfield died at 7:25 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014, at her home.
Mary Frances was born on October 25, 1935, in Chapin, the daughter of Carl Dana and Vernetta McDaniel Anderson. She married John Carey (J.C.) Duty on December 18, 1955, in Jacksonville; he preceded her in death in 1998.
Mary Frances was employed as a registered nurse at Bromenn Hospital in Bloomington for 42 years, until her retirement in 1997. She then moved to Springfield to be near her family. She was a member of West Side Christian Church, Springfield Gardening Club, Red Hat Society, Cachet Club, Eastern Star and Shriner's Ansarettes.
She also was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by three daughters, Dianne "Dee" (husband, Robert) Olson, Joan Carey (husband, Rick) Johnson and Pamela S. (husband, Brad) Goetz, all of Springfield; three grandchildren, Madeline Carey Olson, Jillian Carey Goetz and Shaun W. Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Shaun "A.J." Johnson and Aaliyah Faith Johnson; and a sister, Dianne Joy Tolle of Leavenworth, Kansas.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S.
