Rosemary (Allen) Rives (1928 - 2014)

Rosemary Allen Rives, long time resident of the Greenfield area, recently of Diamond City, Arkansas, where she resided with daughter, Shari Marshall, passed on to a better life on June 9, 2014, at the age of 86. She had been lovingly cared for by her angels at Hillcrest Home in Harrison, Arkansas. She was born on Feb. 1, 1928, to John Harley and Ida Irene (Bowers) Allen, the oldest of 10 children.

Rosemary loved to sing (especially gospel), sew, do needlework such as embroidery and crochet, teach little children and talk and tell family stories. She loved her Lord and was a faithful servant of Christ. She died of Alzheimer's Disease.

For her many friends and loved ones, two memorial services will be held. The first memorial service was held in Diamond City on Sunday June 22, at the Lord of the Lake Lutheran Church with Pastors Marge Doyle and Don Riechers officiating. Ashes were spread in the Memorial Garden at 316 Larchwood St.

Her remaining ashes will then be taken home to Greenfield, where visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Brian Gruen officiating at the Shield-Bishop Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Greenfield. A light meal will be served for family and friends at the Faith Bible Church after the internment.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Leland Rives; daughter, Susan Gayleen; and sons, Jerry Michael and Kevin LeJon; her parents; two brothers, William Jacob and Edgar David; and two sisters Elizabeth Ann and Lucy Virginia Ridder.

Survivors include daughters, Shari Lyn Marshall and husband, Jim, of Diamond City, Arkansas, and Gena Rayann Gorman and husband, Craig, of Indianapolis, Indiana; sons Dennis Albert and wife, Marilyn, of Readstown, Wisconsin; Richard Allen and wife, Sheila, of Jacksonville; William Edwin and wife, Cathy, of Columbia, Missouri; and Randall Duane of Greenfield; brother Raymond Augusta and wife, Carolyn, of Greenfield; sisters, Lois Louise Baker of Springfield; Della Imogene Kinser and husband, Guy Jr., of Greenfield; Ruby Henrietta McMurl of Quincy; and Joyce Adeline Harbaugh of Bluffs.

She is also survived by grandchildren Tony Marshall and wife, Debbie, of Harrison, Arkansas; Tami Marshall Cook and husband Rob of Cheltenham, England; Jill Rives of Farmville, Virginia; Scott Rives and wife, Angie, of Jacksonville; Erik Rives of Belleville; Jason Rives and wife, Stacy, of New Baden; Michelle and Rachel Rives of Columbia, Missouri; Tim Rives and wife, Tiffany, of Grandview, Missouri; John Micheal Burnett of Dayton, Ohio; Keri Ann Mertes and husband, Eric, of Grand Ridge; Andea Cully and husband, Adam, of Jacksonville; Sarra Baptist and husband, Bo, of Auburn; and Craig Gorman Jr. and wife, Kinya, of Indianapolis. She loved numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
