Cecil G. Hoots, 83, of Winchester, died on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
Born in Scott County on Jan. 8, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lillie Owens Brown. On Jan. 19, 1952, she married Carl Hoots in Winchester and he survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Nancy (Larry) Wisecup of Rushville and Lisa (Scott) Schone of Winchester; three sons, Tim (Sherry) Hoots of Bluffs, Tony (Jennifer) Hoots of Winchester, and Craig Hoots of Winchester; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Eileen Boes of Chehalis, Washington; and two brothers, Earl Brown of Decatur and Glenn Brown of New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cynthia Lynn Hoots; two brothers, Tom and Carl Brown; two half-brothers, J. Ralph Brown and Nick Brown; two sisters, Margaret Wynn and Madelyn Brown; and a half-sister, Mabel Neese.
Cecil was a homemaker who loved sewing, flower gardening, and fishing, and was a member of the Baptist faith. Above all, she loved her family.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the Coonrod-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Winchester with burial to follow at Winchester City Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Bloomfield Baptist Church,
