Jim Wisdom (1939 - 2014)

Jim Wisdom, 74, of Waverly, died early Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born Dec. 25, 1939, in Winchester, the son of the late Albert and Clara Coats Wisdom. He married Carole Elliott on July 14, 1963, in Jacksonville, and she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Monte Wisdom (Karen) of Palmyra and Jarrod Wisdom of Waverly; two grandchildren, Andrea and Austin Wisdom and an ex-daughter-in-law, Sharon Wisdom, all of Waverly; one sister, Joyce Roach of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bob Wisdom and his wife, Virginia; one sister, Dolores Wisdom; and two nephews.

Mr. Wisdom was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany during Vietnam. He worked as a yard foreman for Henry Nelch & Son in Jacksonville for many years before working for the City of Waverly. He loved being a mechanic.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly. Burial will be at Waverly East Cemetery where graveside military rites will be conducted by Waverly American Legion Post. There will be no visitation.
