Frank Utter, 90, of Browning, passed away at 9:55 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.
He was born on Nov. 7, 1923, in Frederick Township in Schuyler County, a son of the late George William and Stella Orr Utter. He married Ruth Higgins on March 1, 1947, at the Rushville First United Methodist Church parsonage. She preceded him in death on Nov. 4, 2002.
He is survived by two sons, Larry Utter and his wife, Cindy, of Jacksonville, and Danny Utter and his wife, Jolyn, of Rushville; six grandchildren, Scott Utter and his wife, Erin, Graham Utter and his wife, Ellie, Brad Utter, Adam Utter, Lucas Utter and Lyndsey Utter; four great-grandchildren, Effy Utter, Airiana Utter and twins Ruth and Charlie Utter. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret, who died in infancy, and Beulah Ogden; and two brothers, Arthur Utter and Harlan Utter.
He was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Frederick Christian Church "Disciples of Christ," Schuyler Farm Bureau and Schuyler County Pork Producers. He received the FFA Lifetime Achievement Award in 1971. He was a Bainbridge Township trustee for many years and later the Browning Township clerk.
Funeral services were Friday at Worthington Funeral Home with the Rev. Matt Haberman officiating. Interment followed at Messerer Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Rushville/Industry FFA Scholarship Fund.
