James M. "Jim" Patrick, 69, of Jacksonville passed away Saturday afternoon, Aug. 9, 2014, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Feb. 1, 1945, in Jacksonville, the son of Alfred Jack and Marjorie Ailsie Goodrick Patrick. He married Johanna Van Winkle on Dec. 31, 1973, in Jacksonville and she survives.
He also is survived by two daughters, Bobbi Jo Patrick-Dawdy (husband, Chad) and Marjorie Patrick-Hernandez (husband, Juan) both of Jacksonville; a son, Dennis (wife, Catherine) Jarrett of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Dylan Patrick, Blake Patrick, Austin Hale, Andrew Jarrett and Christian Hernandez; a sister, Patsy (husband, Clinton) Hill of Jacksonville; and five nephews, Jeff Hill, Dale Hill, Dennis Hill, David Hill and Charles Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1963. After high school he served his apprenticeship as a tool and dye maker. He had been a car salesman in the Jacksonville area for 50 years at dealerships including, E.W. Brown Motor Co. and Walker Motor Co. He was a member of the Moose, AMBUCS and the Jacksonville Street Rod Association. He was a race car driver and an avid fan. He was inducted into the Jacksonville Speedway Hall of Fame in March 2014. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandsons.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at Williamson Funeral Home. The family will meet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial are suggested to Mooseheart. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
