John J. Lovekamp, 81, of Jackson, Mo., and formerly of Steelville, Mo., and Arenzville, died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at St. John's Hospice in Springfield.

He was born Feb. 23, 1929, in Rushville, the son of John Walter and Ruth Park Lovekamp. He married Janice Cittadino on Oct. 15, 1977.
Surviving is his wife, Janice Lovekamp of Jackson, Mo.; three children, J. David (wife, Cleta) Lovekamp and Robin (husband, Scott) Mahnken, both of Springfield, and Jason (wife, Angela) Selzer of Jackson, Mo.; five grandchildren, Aaron (wife, Emily) Dufrene of Williamsville, N.Y., Tegan Lovekamp and Tristen Lovekamp of Springfield and Andrew John and Caroline Pearl Selzer of Jackson, Mo.; one great-grandson, Finn Oliver Dufrene of Williamsville, N.Y.; and his sister, Connie Cowan of Arenzville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
John owned and operated JEMCO Towing, Inc., until his retirement and then he was employed as a greeter at Walmart in Jackson, Mo. He was a lifelong avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Burial will be at Arenzville North Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials have been suggested to the John J. Lovekamp Scholarship Fund.
