Susan Ransdell Malone of Sister Bay, Wis., passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, in Springfield.

Susan was preceded in death by her son, Kevin; and by her parents, William K. and Grace Ransdell. She is survived by her husband, William H. Malone; and four children, Sheryl, Bill, Barbara and Timothy; plus 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her three sisters, Jo Anne Schuster and Nancy Monfiletto, both of Albuquerque, N.M., and Sally O'Hearne of St. Louis. Susan also leaves behind a friend and companion, Morgan, her Golden Retriever.
Born in Jacksonville on Dec. 10, 1931, Susan grew up on a farm near Franklin. She graduated from Franklin High School, and attended William Woods College in Fulton, Mo. Susan and William H. Malone were married in 1953 and lived in Park Ridge, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Chicago. They retired in Sister Bay, Wis.
Susan was accomplished in interior design and worked as a lighting consultant in Fort Wayne and Chicago. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her strength, her determination and her dignity.
A memorial service will be held at the Randall and Roberts Funeral Home in Fishers, Ind. Her ashes will be interred at Sister Bay, Wis.
