Marian C. Brim, 83, of Jacksonville, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Chicago, the daughter of James M. and Caroline Campbell Gray. She married James R. Brim on Oct. 23, 1953, in Chicago and he preceded her in death Nov. 12, 2010.
She is survived by one daughter, Marian Louise Brim of Beardstown; one son, John Rodney Brim of Springfield; one sister, Caroline Spehar of Anacortes, Wash.; 15 nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; a sister-in-law, Bettina Morris of Chenoa; and her two special schnauzers, Hedi and Ashton. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, David R. Gray (surviving wife, Bonnie of Chicago.)
Mrs. Brim was a graduate of Taft High School in Chicago and the University of Illinois, College of Agriculture and then attended Illinois College in Jacksonville. She was employed at the First National Bank of Chicago before becoming a substitute teacher at the Chapin Grade School. Marian was a member of Parkway Church of Christ in Springfield and Perry American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered her time as a 4-H leader, secretary for South Central Division of the Illinois Education Association and most recently in the Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center's activity department. Marian was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed crocheting, word searches and computer games.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dorsey-Browning Cemetery in Perry. There will be no formal visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center Activity Fund, Harding University in Searcy, Ark., or Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn., c/o Airsman-Hires Funeral Chapel, P.O.
