Steven Ray Camp, 67, of Roodhouse, passed Monday, April 15, 2013, at his home in Roodhouse following a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 21, 1945, in White Hall, the son of Ray and Doris Fry Camp. He married Carolyn S. Bridgewater on June 16, 1972, in Carrollton.
Surviving is his wife, Carolyn, of Roodhouse; one daughter, Brenn (Nick) Killion, of Roodhouse; one son, Brian (Sara Heafner) Camp, of White Hall; three grandchildren, William and Nolan Killion and Anika Camp; and one brother, David Camp, of Arthur. Steven was looking forward to the birth of his fourth grandchild, Austin Gene Camp, within the next few days. His parents; and one sister, Marla Jean Layton, preceded Steven in death.
Steven graduated in 1963, a member of the last graduating class of Roodhouse High School. He was a veteran of the Air Force and a member of the Roodhouse First Baptist Church. Steven was employed as railroader before his retirement. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball and University of Illinois basketball fan. He enjoyed gardening. He was a devoted grandfather who took great pride in the accomplishments of each of his grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Roodhouse First Baptist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until time of the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Roodhouse First Baptist Church. The Daws Family Funeral Home in Roodhouse is in charge of the service. Condolences may be left online at www.dawsfuneralhome.com.
