Raymond Kirbach, 85, of Carrollton, died Thursday May 30, 2013, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
Born near Carrollton Sept. 19, 1927, he was the son of the late Martin and Anna Hinrichs Kirbach. He married the former Lois Logan on Feb. 12, 1955, and she preceded him in death Aug. 25, 2005.
Surviving are his children, Richard (wife, Carol) Kirbach of Springfield, Mary Hires of Carrollton and Daniel (wife, Michelle) Kirbach of Winchester; four grandchildren, Kristen (husband, Jim) Sammons, Brian (wife, Beth) Hires, Logan Kirbach and Shelby Kirbach; and a great-granddaughter, Lia Roundcount and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and siblings, Louise Steinacher, Virginia Alfeld and Clem, Clarence and Charles Kirbach.
Ray was a graduate of St. John's High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Greene County Farm Bureau and the Carrollton American Legion. He loved St. Louis sports.
He will best be remembered as a lifelong farmer and simple man who loved his family, church, community and his country. Ray loved animals of all types.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Catholic Church in Carrollton. Prayer services will be held at 3:50 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made to Boyd Memorial Hospital. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
