Warren Charles Lash, 81, of Jacksonville, passed away Saturday evening, July 13, 2013, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.
He was born Jan. 28, 1932, in Franklin, the son of Charles and Alpha Pearl Jackson Lash. He married Dicie Antle on Aug. 21, 1955, in Jacksonville, and she survives.
He is also survived by three daughters, Mary Jane (husband, Anthony) Davis of Bluffs, Peggy (husband, Vernon) Dunaway of Meredosia and Patti Bella of Fidelity; one son, Charles "Chuck" Lash; 15 grandchildren, Becky Monroe Smith (companion, Charles Grinkey), Clint (wife, Jennifer) Monroe, Andy (wife, Lanie) Davis, Mindy Davis, Aaron Davis, Jared (wife, Kristen) Lash, Kristina Lash, Jesse Lash, Noah Lash, Jackie Bella, Amanda Burgess, James Burgess, Samantha Dunaway (companion, Mike Jones), Dayle Dunaway and David Monroe; nine great-grandchildren, Tabitha Smith, Mike Smith, Hanna Miller, Sofia Monroe, Olivia Monroe, Lakin Lear, Brandon Jones, Luke Jones and Alexis Harmon; one great-great-grandson, Jayden Smith; one brother, George Lash of Pittsfield; one sister, Shirley Kane of Alton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Mark Dunaway; three brothers, William Lash, John Paul Lash and Dale Lash; and one sister, Eunice Riggs.
Mr. Lash served in the United States Army National Guard and later with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked for many years as a carpenter for Ray and Opal Hacker Construction in Jacksonville. He enjoyed spending time outside with his dog, Freedom. He will be remembered for his kindness and never met a stranger.
