Gary E. "Tribby" Tribble Sr., 60, of rural Jacksonville, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec. 12, 1952, in Jacksonville, the son of Floyd and Mary Shirkey Tribble. He married Donita Kelly on April 9, 1968, in Bowling Green, Mo., and she survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Gary (wife, Cassie) Tribble of Louisiana, Shannon (wife, Amy) Tribble and Jacob Tribble, both of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Hannah Cummins, Dalana Tribble-Boone, Sarah Tribble, Kyle Tribble, Shelby Tribble and Lucas Tribble; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters.
"Tribby" worked at Oscar Mayer in Beardstown for over 10 years. Multiple sclerosis forced him to quit working in 1986, but it didn't slow him down. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles. He loved spending time with his family and friends and was especially known for his cookouts. His motto was "Go Big or Go Home," because he believed nobody should go home hungry. His fish fries and burgoos were always popular events. Above all else, Gary will be remembered and missed as a mentor and giver of good advice to his family.
A graveside service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Winchester City Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to the Jacksonville Food Bank. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.airsman-hires.com.
