R. Fred Conner

AMARILLO - R. Fred Conner, 83, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013. Services were held Saturday, Nov. 2, in Amarillo.
Fred was born Feb. 1, 1930, in Eckert, Colo., to James and Viola Conner. He graduated from Floydada High School in 1948 and West Texas State University in 1953 with a BBA degree in finance.
Mr. Conner was the first county auditor in Floyd County. He served as vice president of Production Credit Association in Plainview and president of First National Bank in Plainview. He also was a commodities trader and independent insurance broker.
Fred was a veteran and served during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy; four daughters, Roxane Furnish and husband Bing of Guymon, Okla., Rhonda Pritchard and husband Mike of Glendale, Ariz., and Rochelle Ford and husband John and Renetta Fletcher and husband Cory, all of Amarillo; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
