A Celebration of Life for Kenneth W. Tolson, 63, of Plainview, will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Harvest Christian Fellowship with Apostle David Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bartley Memorial Chapel. Kenneth passed from this life on September 3, 2018 in Randall county.
Kenneth W. Tolson was born on January 25, 1955 to Carlton and Catherine Tolson in San Jose, California. His grandmother Essie Givens and Aunt Sandra Franklin had a special hand in raising him. He attended South City High School in San Francisco, California. He also attended Skyline Jr College in San Bruno, California and Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, TX. He was ordained on April 4, 1981 to the Gospel Ministry. Kenneth served as the Assistant Pastor at Good Samaritan Pentecostal Church for 22 years. He married the love of his life, Sandra Wall, on July 3, 1976. From this union they had three children; Kenneth, Vette, Sheleta.
During Ken's active days he enjoyed life to the absolute fullest. Ken could be found in church every week partaking and preaching the word of God. From a young age Ken established a strong love and dedication for God, he truly served the Lord with every ounce of his body. Ken was known around town for his unique ability to detail cars. He had a true art to bringing dull rusted cars back to life. One of the best hidden talents Ken had was his cooking and baking abilities. He was well known for his infamous sweet potato pie, peach cobblers, and homemade chili. He enjoyed watching people's reactions as they bit into the food.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son; Kenneth Bernard Tolson of Houston, TX, and two daughters; Vette Meander and husband Wayne of Amarillo, TX, and Sheleta Brooks and husband Regie of Plainview, TX. Sisters; Saunya Tolson of Oregon and Sharon Parks of Dallas, TX. Four grandchildren; J'Ven Brooks, Jayda Brooks, Zerrian Meander, KaVaughn Jackson and special grand-dog, Mozzie.
He is preceded in death by his wife Sandra Tolson , his grandfather Bishop E.N. Givens, and uncles Don, Shelby, Ed, and Charles Givens.
The family has asked that memorials be made to Good Samaritan PCG Church 1801 Houston st. Plainview, TX.
Those serving as Pallbearers are J'Ven Brooks, KaVaughn Jackson, Zerrian Meander, Ronald Wall, Brandon Wall, and Delvin Wilson.
