Lola Mae Taylor, 78, of Atlanta, Texas, passed from this life surrounded by those who loved her, Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013. She was born March 8, 1935. Lola is preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas Walter Taylor Sr.; her parents Frank and Goldie Kocher; her sister Lou Ules; one son William "Bill" Taylor; and three grandchildren Charlene Austin, Crystal Taylor and Anthony Meyer. She is survived by her sons Thomas "Tom" Taylor Jr. and wife Kim of McLeod, Texas; James "Jim" Taylor and wife Julie of Queen City, Texas; and John Taylor and wife Nicole of Hooks, Texas; her daughters Mary Hickman and husband B.C. of Plainview, Betty Orr and husband Kenny of Bloomburg, Texas; Linda Orr and husband Kenneth of McLeod, Texas; Brenda Garza and husband Orville of Plainview; Goldie Osborne and husband Billy of New Caney, Texas; Rose Evans and husband Wendell of Linden, Texas; and Lucy Williams of Houston; her brothers David "Bud" Kocher of Florida and Oliver Kocher of Oklahoma; her sister Vada Smith of Kansas; 34 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Lola was born in Topeka, Kan. She moved to West Texas in the early '60s with her husband and children. In 1971, Lola moved to East Texas and worked alongside her husband and children as a roofer and homemaker. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a strong Christian with an unwavering belief in God and his word. She touched the lives of many. She never met a stranger. She will be greatly missed by those she touched and those she loved. Services will be under the direction of Queen City Funeral Home. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Queen City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be today, Oct. 27, 2013, at Queen City Funeral Home beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Good Exchange Cemetery in McLeod, Texas.
