Max Alan Henry, 77, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, at his home in Olympia, Wash., after a battle with lung cancer.
Max was born Sept. 11, 1936 to Tarence and Amy Henry in Rensselaer. Max married Barbara Pierce on Sept. 8, 1957 at Trinity Methodist Church in Rensselaer.
A graduate of Rensselaer High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Indiana University in 1959.
Max had a strong and successful career in banking, starting at Gary National Bank in 1959, where he remained for 10 years. He worked for the National Bank of Alaska from 1969 to 1990, and subsequently worked for First Interstate Bank and Wells Fargo Bank. He was also active in the United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed serving as a Stephen Minister and taught Sunday school. He was an avid reader throughout his life. He enjoyed travel and following sports, and had a great interest in current events, politics, and finance.
Max is survived by his wife, Barbara; three children, Lisa, Max and Amy; and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Amanda.
Max was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was known for his persistence, optimism, generosity and faith. His spirit lives on in those whose lives he touched.
There will be a private family service.
