Wayne C. Norris, 91, of Rensselaer passed away Jan. 16, 2013 at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare in Monticello, Ind.
Wayne was born in Cambridge, Iowa on Feb. 14, 1921. He was the son of Grant Albert Norris and Mary Edith Rothrock Norris.
Wayne moved with his family to Rensselaer where he attended South Marion School and Monon High School. On Sept. 9, 1940, he joined the U.S. Army where he served with the 114th Medical Company during World War II until his discharge on Sept. 26, 1945. Wayne was a millwright with Local 1043 for over 50 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a life member of V.F.W. Post #1279, Rensselaer.
Wayne was married on Feb. 24, 1946, to Vivian Eileen Hamer who passed away Jan. 27, 1985. In Rensselaer on Jan. 18, 1986, he married Elizabeth "Betty" L. Ferguson Stoller who survives. Wayne and Betty lived several years in Florida.
Surviving are his loving family, wife, Betty Norris; of Rensselaer; daughter, Suzanne (Ron) Jordan of Rensselaer; granddaughters, Tiffany R. (Norm) Wika, Lesley D. Jordan and Tara M. Norris; sister, Irma Norris of Rensselaer; and daughter-in-law, Judy Norris of Madison, Wisc.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Vivian; a son, Robert W. Norris; three brothers; and two sisters.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 10 to 11 a.m. (CST) at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer with memorial services to begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Rensselaer.
Family and friends are welcomed to make memorial contributions to Jasper County Home Healthcare and Hospice.
