Lois J. Chamberlain, 86, of Rensselaer, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Jasper County Hospital Rensselaer. Lois was born on Sept. 15, 1924 in North Liberty, to the late Charles and Selesta nee Gonser Wharton. She had been a resident of Rensselaer since 1945 and a former resident of Mt. Ayr for 17 years.

Her first marriage was to Cecil Malone who passed away on Sept. 1, 1994. Her second marriage was on May 3, 1972 in Kentland, to the late Percy Chamberlain who passed away on April 6, 1989. Lois graduated from North Liberty High School class of 1942. Lois was a Homemaker, member of the First Christian Church, "GAPE" church women's circle, volunteer for 11 years at Van Rensselaer grade school, She was also, a member of the Jasper County Hospital auxiliary where she delivered the mail.
Lois is survived by; three daughters, Janet (Denny) Osenton of Newport News, VA, Marsha (Ellis) Gastineau of Rensselaer, Pauline (John) Amsler of Rensselaer, one step son, Roger (Fran) Chamberlain of Fair Oaks, one sister, Alice Scott of Mishawaka, 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Lois is preceded by; her parents, her husbands, two grandsons one great granddaughter, and four brothers.
Friends may call from 10 -11 a.m. March 15 at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. March 15 at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer with Eric Brotheridge officiating. Internment will follow at Riverside Cemetery Brook. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Rensselaer.
