Raymond I.C. Wright Sr., 74, of Rensselaer passed away at the Jasper County Hospital on Feb. 4, 2012.

Raymond was born May 9, 1937, in Liberty, Ky., the son of Marion W. Wright and Edell (Thomas) Wright. He attended the Kniman Public Schools. On Nov. 6, 1960, he married Mary L. Smith who survives.
Raymond worked for over 17 years as an equipment operator at the former Babcock Road and Paving. He was a devoted member of the Rensselaer "500" Club, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 2548. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and watching his favorite driver Jeff Gordon. He was an antique enthusiast and enjoyed buying and selling antiques and other memorabilia at flea markets, yard and garage sales. Raymond was most proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.
Raymond is survived by his loving family, wife, Mary L. of Rensselaer; two sons, Raymond (Donna) Wright Jr. and Ronnie (Della) Wright, both of Rensselaer; four grandchildren, Eric Wright, Ryan (Lisa) Wright, Kristy (David) Rivera and Zachary Wright; and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Emma G. (special friend Phil Marlin) Schultz of Rensselaer; and one brother, Jerry Wright of Tyler, Texas.
He was proceeded in death by an infant son, Dean, his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday Feb. 7, from 2-8 p.m. at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Jackson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Darren Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Rensselaer. Memorials may be made to the family.
