Robert J Fagnant January 1, 1938-August 23, 2015 Myrtle Beach Robert J. Fagnant "Bob" of Myrtle Beach SC died at Conway Hospital on August 23, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. Bob was born on January 1, 1938 in Chicopee MA (1st baby born in Hamden County that year). Son of the late Rene and Bernadette (Favreau) Fagnant; predeceased by a daughter Dianna Shiver of Myrtle Beach SC: sisters Anita Pasterczyk of Chicopee MA and Eileen Nagel of Tenn. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Mary (Marciniak) Fagnant of the home. His daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Cooke and Michael Ovell of Myrtle Beach SC; his daughter Cheryl Baker of Myrtle Beach SC; his son Robert Jr. (Kimberly) Fagnant of Myrtle Beach SC; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Lucille (Joe) Barna; and brother, Gerald (Ilyne) Fagnant. Bob served in the navy and was a hospital corpsman spending time with the fleet marines where he became interested in the medical profession. He returned to college in MA at the age of 30 to pursue nursing, he was an RN for 37 years. His last place of employment was Conway Medical Center. Bob had 2 loves in his life, his family and his work in nursing. He had hobbies of wood working, golf and fishing. He was a parishioner of St. Michaels, a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements handled by Myrtle Beach Funeral Home and Crematorium in Myrtle Beach SC. Mary Page Merritt Farmer September 9, 1916--August 28, 2015 Wilmington, NC Mary Page Merritt Farmer, 98, of Wilmington, NC, died August 28, 2015¬ . She was born in Wilmington, NC, the daughter of the late Benjamin Acastus and Daisy Bordeaux Merritt. She was predeceased by her husband of sixty-two years John Edward Farmer (Jack), sister Frances Merritt Cox, and brother William Worth Merritt. Mary is survived by daughter Frances Farmer Alexander and husband Thomas of Kingwood, TX; son Edward Merritt Farmer, Sr., and wife Claudia of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter Mary Merritt Farmer of Wilmington, NC; grandson Edward Merritt Farmer, Jr., of Mount Pleasant, SC; granddaughter Elizabeth Camille Oliver and husband Samuel of Houston, TX; grandson Robert Patterson Farmer of Mount Pleasant, SC; great granddaughter Camille Margaret Oliver of Houston, TX; niece Ann Hunter McLaughlin of Raleigh, NC; nephew William Worth Merritt II of Newell, NC; and niece Sharon Elizabeth Merritt of Charlotte, NC. Mary's life was dedicated to her family and Christ. Throughout her life nothing made her happier than nurturing her children's Christian walk and cooking for days in preparation for family gatherings. As a young person she attended St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and later was a charter member of St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church. Over the years she enjoyed teaching children's Sunday School, playing piano, serving as Church historian and participating in Women's Circles. Mary began her Civil Service career as a stenographer in Greensboro, NC, in 1935. She received an appointment to the War Department in Petersburg, VA, and returned to Wilmington, NC, where she was a stenographer at The North Carolina Shipbuilding Co. during WWII and then for the Social Security Administration. Mary enjoyed researching genealogy of family ancestors as well as American and Southern history. She was a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America and the Stamp Defiance Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She leaves a sizable collection of books, articles, writings, records and images covering family, local and state history. Mary and Jack found great joy and pleasure working in their yards and gardens especially when cultivating, propagating and sharing many varieties of camellias, hydrangeas and azaleas with friends and family. A memorial service will be held on September 19, 2015 at St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church after which the family will receive friends. Mr. Elton E. Graham March 7, 1952-August 26, 2015 Galivants Ferry Mr. Elton E. Graham passed away peacefully at his residence on August 26, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Graham was a born March 7, 1952 a son of the late Emery and Georgeanna Martin Graham. He was predeceased by two brothers, Archie and Charles Graham. Mr. Graham is survived by his wife Mrs. Sylvia Rabon Graham of the home, two sons, Jonathan Graham and his wife Cindy, and Benjamin Graham and his wife Crystal all of Galivants Ferry, five grandchildren, Erinn, Rachel and Jacob Abarbanell, Hunter Alford, and Preston Graham, three sisters, Judy Rabon, and Jerry Faye Reaves both of Aynor, and Barbara Peavy of Galivants Ferry, and many special nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday August 27, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home of Aynor. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday August 28, 2015 at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Norris Powell and Rev. Dean Conner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Bertha Mae Rheuark Hughes July 20, 1929 - August 24, 2015 Myrtle Beach Mrs. Bertha Mae Rheuark Hughes, age 86, formerly of N. Oak Street, Myrtle Beach, SC died peacefully on Monday August 24, 2015 at the Conway Manor. Mrs. Hughes was born in Conway, the daughter of the late George Malcolm and Georgie Lily Powell Rheuark. A graduate of Conway High School, Mrs. Hughes went on to a career in manufacturing where she worked for Bassick-Sack in Winston Salem, N.C, Burlington Industries in Greensboro, NC and Caraway Furniture Company in Sophia, N.C. Her love of family and the beach pulled her back to Myrtle Beach where she found employment with the Pan American Hotel for many years working at the front desk. She always had a smile ready for all the guests. "Bert" loved going out with friends and family. For her, nothing was better than a good oyster roast, listening to beach music and dancing. She was a devoted sister, loving aunt and a loyal friend. Her greatest joy was taking care of her "grandkids" with her twin sister, "Ike". Bertha is predeceased by her husband, Calvin Hughes Asheboro, N.C; her twin sister, Isla Mae Rheuark Lewis; brothers, Howard Rheuark Hampton, VA, George S. Rheuark Loris, James Rheuark Myrtle Beach, sisters, Alene R. Marlowe Myrtle Beach, and Esteline Hall St. Louis, MO. She is survived by her nephew James "Bubba" Lewis (Jackie), her "grandchildren", Mason, Jarrett, and Georgia Lewis Myrtle Beach, a niece Dana O. Lewis, Myrtle Beach; nephews Marshall Singleton (Judy) Conway, George R. Rheuark, Myrtle Beach, Ken Rheuark, Loris, William Hall (Ellie) St Louis, MO, Howard Rheuark Jr. (Sharon) Hampton, VA; nieces Mary Aldag St Louis, MO, Jan Helvey (Fred) St Louis, MO, Judy Brown (Raymond) Loganville, GA, Sylvia King (Jim), Susie Waters (George) Hampton, VA, Nancy Matt (Craig) Delaware, OH; sister-in-laws Sara Jane Rheuark Hampton, VA, Shelby Strickland Wilmington, NC and brother-in-law Dick Marlowe Myrtle Beach. John Henry Johnson, Jr. November 21, 1957 - August 28, 2015 Myrtle Beach, SC. John Henry Johnson, Jr., age 57 passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Mr. Johnson was born in Myrtle Beach, the son of John (Jay) Henry Johnson, Sr., and Katherine Wright Johnson. Mr. Johnson was Commander of Long Bay Power Squadron, retired from Verizon Telephone Company and was former President of the IBEW. He was an Eagle Scout in Troop 856 and former Scout Master. Mr. Johnson was Co-Owner of Victoria's Country Cooking. John was an avid boater and felt most at home when he was cruising down the Waterway. Linnette was the love of his life. John loved his children/grandchildren with all of his heart and was affectionately called "Papa John." He couldn't wait until football season to cheer on his Myrtle Beach Seahawks and South Carolina Gamecocks. Surviving are his wife, Linnette of Myrtle Beach; two sons: Nick Johnson and wife, Missy of Hartsville, Matt Johnson of Myrtle Beach; daughter: Felicia Speed of Myrtle Beach; three grandchildren: Caitlin, Noah, and Alyssa. Three adorable pets: Leroy, Lucielle and Sandy. John was preceded in death by his Mother, Katherine Wright Johnson; Father, John (Jay) Henry Johnson, Sr.; and Brother, James Marty Johnson. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, Chapel. William F. Johnson Myrtle Beach William Floyd Johnson age 91, died Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Born in Alta Vista, KS, he was a son of the late Floyd and Marion Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant. He served in WWII with the 8th AF, 306 Bomb Group and the 369th Bomb Squad as a B17 Radio Man Gunner completing over 25 missions. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Johnson and a daughter, Patricia LaBorde. Survivors include his daughters, Debbie Denault and Steven Sides of Murrells Inlet and Krissy Thompson and Tom Edwards of Myrtle Beach; grandchildren, William LaBorde of WA, Kimberly White of Columbia, SC, Noah Thompson of Myrtle Beach and Shelby Thompson of Myrtle Beach; great grandchildren, Keri Clark of Surfside Beach, Kaitlyn White of Mullins and several nieces and nephews. Agnes Page Jollye August 21, 1932 - August 27, 2015 Nichols, SC Agnes Page Jollye, 83 of the Mt. Olive Community died Thursday at McLeod Loris Hospital. Mrs. Jollye was born in Dillon County, SC a daughter of the late Rupert and Lutie Strickland Page. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and a member of the Opal Fax Sunday School Class. and was preceded in death by her husband William S. Jollye, and siblings, Ken Page, Lynn Page, Norma Page Rosson and Miriam Page Biggs. Mrs. Jollye was a gifted crocheter and was a loving and dedicated wife and mother. Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Sunday August 30, 2015 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving are her son, William Steve Jollye and wife Gwenn of Nichols; a daughter, Susan Jollye Johnson and husband Ivey of Florence; 2 sisters, Carol Page Roger, Edna Page Anderson and her husband Russell; 2 sister in laws, Sue Page and Ila Scott. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary Frances Cooper Jones; one son, Thomas Dale Jones, and grandson, Thomas Dale Jones Jr. Mr. Jones enjoyed fishing, hunting and working with his hands. He was a loving husband, father and friend to all.
