James Carmen Davis October 20, 1948 - December 22, 2014 Conway Mr. James Carmen Davis age 66, died December 22, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Davis was born in Sumter, SC the son of Clifton Loyce Davis and Mary Louise Brown Davis and grew up in Bishopville, SC. He graduated from Wofford College in 1970 with a B.S. degree and received his Masters of Education from the University of South Carolina at Coastal Carolina. Mr. Davis was a science teacher at Coastal Academy, West Conway/ Whittimore Park Middle and Loris Middle School. He owned and operated Baxter Forks Landscaping and Jim's Tree Service and was retired from the Army National Guard as a Lt. Colonel. Most recently he worked at Waccamaw Frame Gallery. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother. Mr. Davis loved all things science and preferred to be outside with his pets as often as possible. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1987 and was also a two time cancer survivor. Mr. Davis was predeceased by his parents. Survivors include his daughters, Sarah Davis Keane (Bobby) of Myrtle Beach, and Elizabeth Michael Speidel (Ryan) of James Island; five grandchildren, Kathleen Marie Keane, James Keane, Noah Keane, Benjamin Speidel and Lincoln Speidel; and his brother, Cliff Davis (Carol) of Lugoff, SC. A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, Conway with Rev. Kyle Randle officiating. Family visitation will be at 2:00 pm in the Church Commons. Memorials may be made to Epworth Children's Home, P.O. Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250. Duvall, Ann T. - North Myrtle Beach  
Ann T. Duvall North Myrtle Beach Ann Lovejoy Trively Duvall was born May 13, 1930 in Palisade, Nebraska. She died peacefully in her sleep on Christmas morning and is now at home with the Lord. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert Duvall, her three daughters and their husbands, many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She enjoyed her Garden Club activities, quilting, knitting hats for newborn babies, music, and listening to books on tape and keeping in touch with her friends and relations. Funeral services will be Tuesday morning, December 30th at 11 am at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Doctors without Borders. Mark T. Hazleton Myrtle Beach Mark T. Hazleton, age 51, of Myrtle Beach, died Tuesday December 23, 2014. Honoring his wishes there are no calling hours. William C. Hinson, Jr. Myrtle Beach William C. Hinson Jr, 88 passed away on December 24th in his Myrtle Beach home. Miner, Calvin  
Calvin L. Miner Murrells Inlet Calvin L. Miner, 84, died Friday, December 26, 2014 at Waccamaw Hospital. Born in Hagerstown, Maryland, Calvin was the son of the late Calvin L. and Lena Miner. He retired from the USAF after 20 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church Surfside Beach. He is survived by his wife, Frances of Murrells Inlet; son Mike Miner (Susan) of Murrells Inlet; daughter Cynthia Gehrman (Richard) of Pawleys Island; 4 Grandchildren, Stephanie, Christopher, Elizabeth and Brian; 3 Step-Grandchildren, Christopher, Nathan and Tyler; and 12 Great-Grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, January 2, 2015 at First Baptist Church Surfside Beach. Nelson, Thorleif  
Thorleif "Nick" Nelson July 26, 1934 - December 24, 2014 Longs Thorleif "Nick" Nelson passed away December 24, 2014 after a battle with cancer. He was at home with family when the end came. Born in Noank, CT. Since his father was a fisherman and the family lived on the water he always had a boat cruising Long Island and Block Island sounds. His early career was a submarine builder at Electric Boat. After Electric Boat he was hired by Bechtel to help with the building of Millstone 3 (nuclear power plant). For the rest of his life he became a general contractor, Nick could do anything with wood and cement. Driving around Eastern Ct. you can see a variety of homes and businesses built by Nick. He carried these skills to other places as well; the Virgin Islands, Fishers Island, Montauk, NY and Miami. After a nerve-wracking voyage in November of 2000, Nick and wife Barbara landed their 43 foot Chris Craft at North Myrtle Beach Yacht Club, at which time Barbara kissed the ground and Myrtle Beach has been their home for the past 14 years. While in the Myrtle Beach area, Nick and Barbara developed some great friendships at the Little River United Methodist Church. Active in church activities: building committee for the new Life Center, trustees, member of the Men's club he cooked for various functions and developed the golf cart ministry for all church events. He volunteered to assist with the cleanup after hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Nick was also involved with the SBA during the Hurricane Andrew clean-up in South Florida, past president of the Little River Lions club and a member/officer of the North Myrtle Beach Power Squadron. Nick's interests in sports spanned many years as a fast pitch softball pitcher, coach and later as an umpire for girls softball in Horry County. Nick served in the Connecticut National Guard. Nick was predeceased by his parents Thorleif and Frida Nelson, brothers Leif, Walter, Roy and sisters Amy and Evelyn. He is survived by his sister Solveig "Sue". He leaves wife Barbara, sons Jeffrey and wife Anne, Dan, daughters Pam and husband Alan, and Traci. Also step children Sonya, Greg and wife Gail and Jack and wife Stacey, as well as 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Two memorial services will be held in the future in South Carolina and Connecticut in 2015.

Poe, Frances S.  
Frances S. Poe Murrells Inlet Frances S. Poe, age 73, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Tidelands Community Hospice House, Georgetown. Born in Florence, SC, Mrs. Poe was the daughter of Laurie and Elizabeth Smith. She attended Myrtle Beach High School and was a resident of Murrells Inlet for 57 years. Horses were a passion for Mrs. Poe and she loved caring for and raising Arabian Horses on her horse farm. She is preceded in death by her father, Laurie Smith and her grandson, Joseph Miles Herndon. Survivors include her loving husband, James C. "Jimmy" Poe, Jr.; children, James C. Poe, III, Columbia; Beth (Jesse) Holcomb, MS; Lisa (Zeb) Davis, Murrells Inlet; Christie (Scott) Heppenstall, Murrells Inlet; mother, Elizabeth Allen, Murrells Inlet; grandchildren, Sally Herndon, Surfside Beach; Rebekka Poe, Murrells Inlet; Conan Poe, CA; Holman Davis, Ethan Davis, Aiden Heppenstall, Anabella Heppenstall, Caroline Heppenstall all of Murrells Inlet; great grandchildren, Robbie Young, Surfside Beach; Allister Poe, CA; brother, Jesse Smith, CA; sister, Cheryl Mahaffey, TN. Biddie Ann Schultz January 9, 1929 - December 21, 2014 Myrtle Beach Biddie Ann Schultz, 85 of Myrtle Beach went to be with the Lord on Sunday, 12/21/2014 at her residence. She was born 1/8/1929 in Charleston, WV, daughter of the late John and Frances Barker Jones. Retired from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Dept. as the Captain's Exec. Assist. A loving mother and survived by a son Samuel Gerald (Jerry) Jones and wife Ramona of San Diego, CA, Mary Sue Thompkins of Myrtle Beach, and Sherry Lyn Wells of Myrtle Beach; brother, Jim Jones of Phoenix, AZ and a sister Mary Faith Walker of Sacramento, CA. Grandma is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennie, Matthew, Jeffrey, Jessica, Kaylin, Michael, Brandy, Joey, Shane, Kristianna, and Michelle; great grandchildren, Matthew, Talon, Braelin, and Naomi. She was predeceased by her children, Joseph and Marsha; brother John and sister Nancy. And former husbands Joe Martin Jones and Dutch Schultz. A Celebration of Life was private. Sandra K. Slone February 12, 1962 - December 25, 2104 Conway Ms. Sandra K. Slone, 52, passed away unexpectedly at Conway Medical Center on Thursday, December 25, 2014 following a sudden illness. Born February 12, 1962 in Parkersburg, WV Sandra was the daughter of the late John Rowan and the late Wanda June Campbell Rowan. She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, and working puzzles but her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters, Amanda Ulin (Antonio), Amber Rodriguez (Juan), and Audreanna Slone; grandchildren, Jonathan Hughes, Jacob Hughes, Elijah Slone, Alexander Slone, and Christopher Juarez; sisters, Diann Miller, Sharon Lopez (Marvin), Audrey Prieto, Sherry Dennis (Scott); brother, Blake Rowan; many nieces and nephews; and her children's father, Ralph Slone. Sandra was predeceased by her parents; a grandson, Isaiah Slone, and a sister, Teresa Rowan.
