Billy Joe Harrelson, age 71, of Cypress Swamp Road, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Harrelson was born June 19, 1942 in Conway, a son of the late Joseph Wilbur "Billy" Harrelson and Merldeen Johnson Harrelson. He was a member of Langston Baptist Church where he served on the bus ministry and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Harrelson worked at Pepsi Cola for 21 years and Creel Oil Company until his retirement. He loved God with all of his heart and supported many ministries. He was an avid football fan and loved the beach. Mr. Harrelson was predeceased by a daughter, Angela Renee Harrelson.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda B. Harrelson, one daughter, Amanda Hewitt (Jamie) of Conway, two sons, Joseph Christopher Harrelson and Jason Harrelson (Melissa) all of Conway, seven grandchildren, Mary, Taylor, Blake and Grant Harrelson, Cassidy and Leigh Catherine Hewitt and Storm Hodges, and one sister, Patricia Furr (Donald) of Anderson, SC.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Dr. Randall Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Horry County Humane Society, 2101 Industrial Park Road, Conway, SC 29526.
