Rev. Nelson B. Fowler, age 84, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at his residence.
Rev. Fowler was born in Springfield, NC, a son of the late Oscar J. and Elizabeth Ray Fowler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Rev. Fowler was a US Navy veteran having proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was retired supervisor from Horry Telephone Cooperative in Conway. Rev. Fowler also was a Minister of Murrells Inlet Pentecostal Holiness Church and Free Welcome Pentecostal Holiness Church in Nichols, SC. He was a gifted musician who played multiple instruments; including, guitar, fiddle, and the mandolin. Rev. Fowler was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Conway Lions Club and Mason.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years; Ruby Lee Causey Fowler; his three children, Robert Nelson Fowler of Conway, Vanessa Fowler Gates and husband, Marty, of Atlanta, GA, Richard Wyatt Fowler and his wife, Donna, of Conway; his six grandchildren, Robert Nelson Fowler, Jr., Shaunna Lee Price, Cory Fowler, Jessica Gates Hearn, Joey Wayne Gates, Sarah White; his ten great-grandchildren; his brother, James Fowler and his wife, Janice, of NC; and his sister, Betty Lou Gasque also of NC.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 28, 2014 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Rev. Mendel Stalvey officiating.
Entombment with military honors will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the funeral home.
