Conway, SC…Norman Heindel, age 81, of Candlewood Drive, died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Conway Medical Center.
Mr. Heindel was born in Dallastown, PA, a son of the late Emory W. and Virgie Barshinger Heindel. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach, SC and prior to moving to Conway, he was a member of St. Johns Blymire's United Church of Christ in Dallastown, PA. Mr. Heindel graduated from Dallastown High School, was a member of the Dallastown American Legion and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He worked as a printing press operator for Standard Register in York, PA where he retired in 1992. Mr. Heindel loved bowling, cooking, flowers, church, community choir, football, boxing and playing cards. He was an active member of the Myrtle Trace Community and loved to share his cooking with others. Mr. Heindel was a people person and never met a stranger. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Heindel Herndon.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Sandra P. Fox Heindel of Conway, one son, David Heindel of Round Rock, TX, one daughter, Cynthia Heindel Duncan (Rex) of Henderson, NV, one brother, Ronald Heindel (Madeline) of Red Lion, PA, one sister, Joyce Platts (Harry) of York, PA, one son-in-law, R. Keith Herndon of Rossville, TN, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the Sun Room at Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Dunn officiating.
