George H. Mattiske, Jr., 81, husband of Bobbie Twitty Mattiske, died peacefully at home on January 25, 2013, after a long illness.
George was born in Albany, New York on November 24, 1931, a son of the late Lillian and George Mattiske, Sr. He was predeceased by his first wife of thirty years, mother of his children, Anna E. McDowell Mattiske.
For thirty-nine years, he was project manager of A. J. Eckert and Company in Albany. In 1989, he retired to Myrtle Beach. He and Bobbie were married on August 7, 1993 at Trinity Episcopal Church. George was a member of Trinity Church and a former member of The Dunes Golf and Beach Club.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; daughter, Andrea Nash and husband Larry; son, Marc Mattiske and wife Laura; brother, Art Mattiske and wife Maxine; grandchildren, Gregory Martini, Zachary Nash, Jacob Nash, Rachael Welsh and husband Greg, and Kristin Zeto; great-grandchildren, Taryn, Evan and Carson; niece, Kristin Nichols and husband Richard; nephew, Brian Mattiske and wife Carolyn and their son, Owen. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law; Dorothy McDowell, Martha Erwin, Ellen McCotter and Lilian Welch and their families.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Tom Britt, Chris Britt and the staff of Mercy Care Hospice for their loving care.
A memorial service will be held in Albany, NY at a later date.
