Herbert Bernard Yosten, age 76, died March 16, 2013 at his home in Murrells Inlet, SC. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Herb was born May 15, 1936 in Erie, PA, to the late Bernard Yosten and Sophie Zdunczyk Yosten. He attended North East High School. Herb worked at Erie Crawford Dairy Feed Mill and then General Electric until his retirement in 1994 to Surfside Beach, SC, where he and his wife Nancy made many wonderful memories with their children and grandchildren. Herb was an avid golfer and achieved two holes-in-one during his lifetime. He was a past member of the Allied Trades Club and more recently enjoyed a Herbert football club in Myrtle Beach, SC. Herb was a long-time member of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Harborcreek, PA.
Herb was a quiet and gentle man with a quick wit and big smile. His very best friend for the past 5 years was his sidekick and buddy AJ, his shih-poo. They went everywhere together. AJ was by Herb's side when he passed away.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Nancy Ferrick Yosten of Murrells Inlet SC; one sister Doris Lewis and her husband Robert, Northeast, PA, one brother Donald Yosten and his wife Karen, Erie; three daughters: Debra Roberts and husband Robin, Blue Bell, PA; Pamela Watkins and husband Dennis, Erie; Bethany Gibson and husband David, Erie; two sons: James Yosten and wife Anne, Athens, GA, Andrew Yosten and wife Cherrie, Erie; twelve grandchildren who called him "Bompey": Christopher Roberts, Garrett Watkins, Amanda Ransom, Nicole Ferringer, Melinda, Seth, Hannah, and Olivia Gibson, Jason and Stephanie Vogel, Andrea and Ronald Yosten; four great grandchildren.
