John Winston Stevens
Myrtle Beach
John Winston Stevens, age 77, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013 following an extended illness.
Born in Loris, SC, he was a son of the late John G. and Elma Cox Stevens. Winston, a US Navy veteran, proudly served our country with time in the Pacific Theater of Operations during the Vietnam War. After over 20 years of service, he honorably retired from the Navy and spent many years of public service transporting disabled patients for medical treatments. Mr. Stevens was a member of Socastee United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Ernestine H. Stevens; step-children, Peter Horne and his wife, Gale, Ricky Horne and his wife, Gwen, Cynthia Morgan and her husband, Scott, and Cecilia Horne; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Roy W. Stevens and his wife, Nell; sisters, Athene Long and her husband, Elbert, Barbara Barker and her husband, Charles, and Peggy Inman and her husband, Max.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Socastee United Methodist Church with Pastor Ray Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at Socastee United Methodist Church.
