Richard Denman Van Dyke, age 71, passed away suddenly Saturday, December 17, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Van Dyke was born in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Bingham Hood Van Dyke, Sr. and Marguerite Crowell Barr Van Dyke.
Mr. Van Dyke received a B. A. in science in 1967 and an MBA in science in 1968 from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business. He was a US Army veteran that proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Mr. Van Dyke was a CPA and retired partner with Gold Crown Management in Myrtle Beach. He was a founding member and treasurer of Christ United Methodist Church; He especially enjoyed cooking and spending time with his grandchildren. He and Ann loved to cruise around the world cruising more than twenty five times.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Ann Louise Haney Van Dyke; his children, Julia Ann Stroud (Claude Jr.) of Hartsville, SC; William Denman Van Dyke (Amy) Glastonbury, CT; his grandchildren, Kristen M. Stroud, Elizabeth A. Stroud, Matthew E. Stroud, Tyler W. Van Dyke, Hannah L. Van Dyke; his brother, Bingham Hood Van Dyke, Jr. (Janice) of Rathdrum, ID; his sister, Marguerite Van Dyke Evans of Salt Lake City, UT; his nephews, Peter Van Dyke, Andrew Van Dyke, Jared Evans; his niece, Peggy Evans; and his great nephew, Caswell Thomas; special friends Mike and Pat Worley; Jeanette Rowell; Bernard Fulton; Anna and David Morrell.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Christ United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach with Reverend Jeff Dunn officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, 1113 44th Ave N #200, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 or to Christ United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2901 Fantasy Way, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579
