William "Phil" Conklin

William "Phil" Conklin, 71, of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He was born September 05, 1946 in Louisville, KY, son of the late William C. and Barbara Jutz Conklin.
Survivors include one son, Christopher Conklin and his wife Jean of Murrells Inlet; sister, Judy "Sis" Klotz and her husband Chuck of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Celeste, twins, Collins and Christopher, Jr. Conklin; and his wife of thirty-four years Billie Conklin.
Phil was born in Louisville, KY, but raised in Miami Beach, Fl. He developed a love for fishing at a very young age. He later spent four years in the Navy and was stationed out of Key West. On a road trip is where he discovered Murrells Inlet and fell in love with the area, later making it his home in the 70's.
Phil became a highly respected commercial fisherman in the Murrells Inlet area for thirty years. He later opened Seven Seas Seafood Market in 1997, which is still open and operated by his family.
When he wasn't on the ocean, he enjoyed joining his friends for spirits and stories at his favorite local watering hole.Phil left his mark on everyone he came across and never met a stranger. Phil loved his grandchildren above all else.
A celebration of Phil's life will be held during happy hour at 4:00pm Monday, June 18, 2018 at Creek Ratz, 4065 US-17 BUS, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Phil's name to the, MUSC Children's Hospital Fund, 59 Bee Street, MSC 201, Charleston, SC 29425.

Mr. Phil there are no words for how much you are going to be missed by everyone in the MI area but, especially by Henry, Jake and Myself. I can never thank you for everything that you did for my Chelsea while she worked for you at Seven Seas, you are truly a huge part of our family. Rest in Paradise. Love you, Karen
