Paul A. Catania, age 68, passed away from complications of ALS on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Conway Medical Center.
Paul was born in Hartford, CT, March 13, 1946 a son of the late Anthony and Mary Louise Bonfiglio Catania.
Paul was a US Air Force Veteran having proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He retired in 2006 as a Lt. Colonel with the 103rd Fighter Group of the Connecticut Air National Guard. Paul was a lifelong resident of Enfield, CT where he was a member of St. Adalberts and St. Marthas Catholic Church. He relocated to Conway, SC in 2012 and was a member of St. James Catholic Church where he achieved the level of 4th Degree as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Paul was a graduate of the University of Connecticut and was an avid Huskies fan.
In addition to his parents; Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Francis Robert Catania.
Survivors include; his wife, Karen Catania, his three children, Peter Francis Catania and his wife, Kelley, of Newington, CT, Shelby Marie Marquardt and her husband, Clinton, of Enfield, CT, Steven Patrick Catania and his wife, Michelle, also of Enfield, CT; his two step-sons, John and Jeriko both of Conway, SC; and seven grandchildren, Courtney, Maggie, Tyler, Dylan, Devin, Shayne and Mason.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 4:00 PM July 31, 2014 at St. James Catholic Church with Father Tim Lijewski officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Enfield CT.
The family will receive friends following the Mass in the Parrish Hall of St. James Catholic Church.
