Dixie Marie Cook Sachleben, 75 of Bedford, formerly of Milton, Ky., entered this life on February 27, 1943, in Deatsville, Ky., the loving daughter of the late Wayne Russell and Alpha Katherine Owen Cook. She was raised on Cox's Creek near Bardstown, Ky. and attended My Old Kentucky Home School. She was united in marriage on August 2, 1965, to Marvin Berthet Sachleben and this union of forty years was blessed to raise four children. Dixie was a faithful wife, mother and grandmother, providing a loving and comfortable home on the family farm. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley; enjoying his music and making a pilgrimage to the Graceland Estate in Memphis. She also enjoyed working in her garden, taking walks, and playing with her grandchildren. She was a member of Mount Herman Baptist Church on Kings Ridge near Bedford, and attended class at the North Madison Christian Church (with her best friend, Barbara Reed) in Madison, Ind. where she volunteered with the MOPS program. Dixie died on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 8:28 p.m. at the King's Daughters' Hospital Emergency Room in Madison, Ind.
Dixie will be missed by her loving sons, Calvin (Carol) Sachleben of Milton, and Wayne Sachleben and his companion, Christine of Bedford; her loving daughters, Truena Reed and her companion, Ellis Cleeter of Madison, and Tammy (Kyle) Weaver of Aberdeen, Ind.; her beloved grandchildren, Brett, Brandon, Alec, Russ, Laura, Jamie, Jessie, Jason, and Amy; her loving great-grandchildren, Adaline, Ashley, Dustin, Emily, Hannah Jo, Kaitlyn, Natalie, Dillon, Hunter, Keeleigh, and Harley; her loving sisters, Geneva Shawler of Cox's Creek, Kentucky, Eula Yancy of Paducah, Ky., Willena (Bud) Cooney of Indianapolis, Ind.; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne Russell and Alpha Katherine Owen Cook; her husband of forty years, Marvin Berthet Sacleben died September 21, 2005; her sisters and brother, Mayme Hopkins, Virginia Avis, and Joseph Wayne Cook.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 30, by Reverend Orville Mann, Jr. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison. Interment will follow at a later date in the Saint Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery near Hunter's Bottom in Carroll County, Kentucky.
