Thomas D. 'Tom' Bray, 82, of Madison, entered this life on Dec. 21, 1935, in Bedford, Ky. He was the loving son of the late Harold and Marguerite Pecar Bray. He was raised in Trimble County and was a 1954 graduate of Trimble County High School. He attended Murray State and University of Kentucky. On July 27, 1957, he married his sweetheart of four years, Judy A. Butler at the Milton United Methodist Church. This happy union of nearly 61 years was blessed with sons, Stanley and David and a daughter, Shawna. Tommy had managed several Shell Gas Stations, the Phillips 66 Station and at Adler's Service for several years. He retired as a car salesman having worked last for Chandler Chevrolet, Hadley Chevrolet, and Arbuckle Chevrolet. Tommy was a great socializer, enjoyed being a jokester, being with his grandchildren, playing golf as much as possible, watching the Madison Cubs, and the UK Wildcats. He held membership at the Milton United Methodist Church and was bestowed the honor of Kentucky Colonel in 1995 by Governor Martha Layne Collins. Tommy died on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at 12:46 p.m. at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
Tommy will be missed by his loving wife of nearly 61 years, Judy A. Butler Bray of Madison; his loving sons, Stanley Bray of Madison and David Bray and his companion, Michelle McGinn of Madison; his loving daughter, Shawna (Terry) Birge of Madison; his grandchildren, Kristen, Justin, Jarrett, Casi, Collin and Cooper; his great-grandchildren, Jaxton and Trenton; his brothers, Phillip Bray of Frankfort, Ky., William 'Billy' (Donna) Bray of Waddy, Ky.; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Juanita Bray of San Antonio, Texas, and Diane (Tom) Farrell of Madison; Donald (Linda) Butler of Clay City, Ky.; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Bray; his mother, Marguerite Pecar Bray; his brothers, Joe Bray, Jim Bray, and Jerry Bray; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James W. 'J.W.' and Ruth Wheeler Butler; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda 'Linn' Murphy and James Hudson Butler, Sr.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, by Pastor David Leland at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison. Interment will follow in the Moffett Cemetery in Milton.
Friends may visit from 4-7 p.m., Friday and 11 a.m., Saturday until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.
