
John Patrick Butler passed away in Midland, TX, Sunday October 28, 2012, after his four year battle with cancer. He was born in Castlepollard, Ireland, on April 5, 1957, and grew up in Midland, TX. After graduating from Midland High School in 1976, he worked in the oil and gas industry for over 35 years, with various companies. His family was his top priority, but he also enjoyed building scale models, watching football, and looked forward to the airshow every year. He was a loving husband, father, and friend, who will be greatly missed. John is preceded in death by his father, James H. Butler, III. John is survived by his wife of 33 years, Nancy Scholl Butler; his three children, John Michael, Sarah, and Christopher Butler of Midland, TX; his mother, Emma Lou; and his brother, Jim Butler, Jr., both of Houston, TX. Also left to honor his memories are numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. The Butler family would like to thank Dr. Karen Carr, the entire staff at Allison Cancer Center, and the Oncology unit at Midland Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be held Wednesday October 31, 2012, at Ellis Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, November 1, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., with interment following at Resthaven Memorial Park.
