Fannie Houghton

Fannie Mack Houghton, 89, stepped into the glory of Heaven on Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Fannie was born June 10, 1921 in Gilmer, TX to Robert and Mary Martha Ellison. She graduated valedictorian from Gilmer High School. Fannie moved to Midland, TX where she met a young soldier, William A. Houghton, and married on April 29, 1945. Fannie retired from Southwestern Drug Company in 1984. She was a member of First Assembly of God Midland. Fannie was a loving, incredible wife, mother, grandmother. She loved to work in her flower garden, knitting, quilting, crossword puzzles and Skip Bo. Following retirement Fannie loved traveling to visit family and friends. She will truly be missed by all who love her. Fannie was preceded in death by her husband William and twin sister Annie Mitchell. Survivors include two sons: William M. Houghton and wife Sandra of Huntsville, AL; Rev. Cliff H. Houghton and wife Karen of Amarillo, TX; her grandchildren, David Houghton and wife Michele of Franklin, TN; Susan Coffey and husband Billy of Sachse, TX; Heather Houghton of Amarillo, TX; and three great grandchildren. Family will receive friends and family Monday, February 28, 2011 between the hours of 6-8 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park with Reverend Cliff H. Houghton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
