Fannie Houghton Obituary

Fannie Mack Houghton, 89, stepped into the glory of Heaven on Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Fannie was born June 10, 1921 in Gilmer, TX to Robert and Mary Martha Ellison. She graduated valedictorian from Gilmer High School. Fannie moved to Midland, TX where she met a young soldier, William A. Houghton, and married on April 29, 1945. Fannie retired from Southwestern Drug Company in 1984. She was a member of First Assembly of God Midland. Fannie was a loving, incredible wife, mother, grandmother. She loved to work in her flower garden, knitting, quilting, crossword puzzles and Skip Bo. Following retirement Fannie loved traveling to visit family and friends. She will truly be missed by all who love her. Fannie was preceded in death by her husband William and twin sister Annie Mitchell. Survivors include two sons: William M. Houghton and wife Sandra of Huntsville, AL; Rev. Cliff H. Houghton and wife Karen of Amarillo, TX; her grandchildren, David Houghton and wife Michele of Franklin, TN; Susan Coffey and husband Billy of Sachse, TX; Heather Houghton of Amarillo, TX; and three great grandchildren. Family will receive friends and family Monday, February 28, 2011 between the hours of 6-8 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park with Reverend Cliff H. Houghton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Cliff and Karen..Our most sincere regrets to your loss. Fannie was the most genuinely kind human being I have ever had the pleasure to know and i will miss her. Mom and Dad send you all their love and prayers at your loss as well. Fannie meant a great deal as a friend to my mother. Love you

Pastor Cliff and Family:

I was saddened to learn of the passing of your beloved mother, but we rejoice with you in knowing "that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."

I worked with Fannie at Southwestern Drug for many years, and she was the most wonderful person I knew, Bill and Fannie kept in touch for many years....she will be greatly missed....and she loved her family so much. She and God are having the best time of her life right now.
