David Roberts Obituary

G. Roberts David "Davy" G. Roberts, 59, died Sunday, July 3, 2011, at a Midland medical center. Born in Plainview, Texas, on February 8, 1952, David was the son of D.G. and Anna Roberts. David graduated from Midland Senior High School and The University of Texas at Permian Basin, where he studied Mass Communications. David was a Certified Professional Landsman and was recognized as such by the American Association of Professional Landsmen. He was a member of the Permian Basin Landsman's Association and a member also of the Greater Houston Landsman's Association and the San Antonio Association of Professional Landsmen. At the time of his death, David was working for EOG Resources. David was a Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge of Texas and held membership in the Mineral Wells Lodge # 611 in Mineral Wells, Texas, and the Guadalupe Lodge # 109 in Seguin, Texas. David was also a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Fort Worth Scottish Rite Bodies. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Libbi Roberts Stephenson. David is survived by his nephew, Chris Stephenson and wife, Rebekah of Abilene; niece, Kathy Stephenson of Midland; and a great nephew, Collin Stephenson of Abilene. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 7, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating, directed by Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Graveside services will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Scottish Right Hospital, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, TX 75219 or The Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas, P. O. Box 446, Waco, Texas 76703. Davy was a kind hearted soul who truly cared about people. A true gentleman. He taught me and the rest that worked with him so much. He did so much for so many and never put himself first. a rare facet of personality. The world is a lesser place with out him. Thanks to God for having him pass our way. He will be missed.
