Harry Heap Obituary

Harry Kirby Heap was born on April 18, 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma as the first son of Harry Herbert (Hub) Heap and Billie Mae Heap.

Surrounded by his devoted and loving family Harry peacefully departed this life, at the age of 65, on December 23, 2007 at 5:07 PM into the open arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Harry was a good and honorable man, loved dearly by all who knew him. Like his father, Harry enjoyed listening to, and telling, a good story. He was also a faithful and loyal giver, generously donating to many charities, churches and treasured friends and family. Harry was a Marine and loved to claim Semper Fi. Harry was united in marriage with Vicki Lynn Britton Heap on May 28, 1994 by Pastor James Dill at Rose Heights Church of God in Tyler. After moving to White Oak, TX in 1994, Harry and Vicki joined 10 other families and helped pioneer Rose Heights Church of God in Longview, where Harry sang in the choir, taught Sunday School class and helped support and launch numerous benevolent programs. Harry was a noted and respected Petroleum Consultant, working through Dan Blocker Petroleum Consultants of Longview. Harry traveled extensively during his early career, touching down in Wyoming, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas and Nigeria. His most notable accomplishment, however, as he stated many times, was giving his life to Jesus Christ. Those who knew him well are witnesses to the difference the Lord made in Harry's life.

Harry is preceded in death by his father Hub Heap of Odessa, TX, his son Shane Heap, his maternal grandmother Mattie Bell, paternal grandmother Blanche Heap, nephew Ben Heap and good friend Sam Clary. Those left to treasure his memory are his beloved wife, Vicki, of White Oak, daughter and son in law Holly and Allen Howell of Lake Cherokee, mother Billie Heap of Odessa, mother in law Colleene Britton of Tyler, sister and brother in law Marsha and Mark Fairchild of Midland, TX., brother and sister in law Craig and Kim Heap of Odessa, TX., granddaughters Hunter Howell and Haley Heap, grandson Lance Heap and many cherished nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mark Fairchild, Buddy Britton, Glen Hodge, Allen Howell, Lance Heap, Gordon Huyser, Art Clendenin and Roger Jerguson, Honorary pallbearers will be David Shubert, David Tomme, Jason Luker. Wayne Franks, Dan Blocker, Tobin Reid, Shan Reid, Jason Lane and all his group at Jucy's.

A celebration of Harry's great life will be at Rose Heights Church of God in Longview, TX at 10 O'Clock in the morning, Thursday, December 27, with Pastors Lynn Hildreth and James Dill officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 PM in James Town Cemetery near Van, TX.
