James L. Harris, 68, of Midland, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at his residence. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 19, 2012, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 20, 2012, at Hope Lutheran Church in Midland, with Rev. Terry Johnson, officiating. The family is requesting casual dress. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m., Monday, August 20, 2012, at Fairmount Cemetery in San Angelo. James was born April 27, 1944, in Afton, New York, to Gladys (French) and Leslie Harris. He married Terry Hall on June 27, 1975, in Midland. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. James worked for the City of Odessa, as a senior drafting engineer, for 10 years. He retired from Exxon in 2000, after working over 20 years for them. He enjoyed working with Midland's 'Summer Mummers' for 8 years and their "taffle rickets". James was a selfless man. He loved Willie Nelson July 4th concerts, building Lionel train sets, and collecting coins. But most of all, he loved his granddaughter, who called him "PaPa", and playing with her. He was goofy and always the life of the party. Survivors include wife, Terry; son, Neil Harris; daughter, Kelly Fuller and husband, Daniel; and granddaughter, Jocelyn Fuller, all of Midland; and sons, James Rider and Leslie Rider, both of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and youngest brother. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
