James Russell "Bubba" Acker, age 21, of Midland, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013 in Marathon, TX. He was born in Midland on June 10, 1992 to Russell Earl Acker and Alina Acker Goree. He worked in the oilfield as an electrician. Bubba married Alexis "Lexi" Conner in Midland on April 22, 2013. Bubba loved the outdoors; he and his Uncle Vern would go hunting, fishing and trapping. Uncle Randy and Aunt D'anne and cousin T. J. shared his love for NASCAR and would go to races with him. A bit of a workaholic, Bubba loved his job. Family was important to Bubba. He loved his mom, and his wife and little girl were the center of his world. Vern Jones was very special to him and he adored Rylie Wood (his niece). Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife: Lexi Acker of Midland; daughter: Gaige Lee Acker of Midland; son: Granger Rhett Mansell of Midland; mother: Alina Acker Goree of Midland; father: Russell Acker of Pecos; paternal grandparents: "MomTom and Papa" Acker of Pecos; brothers: Vance Acker and Clinton Acker, both of Austin, Cody Acker of Pecos, and Jake Acker of East Texas; sister: Raney Wood of Plano; uncle: Randy Henson and wife D'anne of Midland; cousins: T. J. and Casi of Midland; close friends: Trey Hurt, Matt Wilcox, Bryson Leal, and Jonathan Swinney were just like brothers to him; all of his buddies from Hillcrest School; The Jones Family and All of Lexi' s Family; and his dogs: Sam, Herman, Harley, and Outlaw, who had a special place in his heart. "He was my very world, my ever guiding star. Just kiss me softly and tell me where you are." - Lexi "I love my Bubba and I'm gonna miss you much." Rylie (Her Bubba was everything to her.) "I love you" - Mom, "My little man, I love you and I miss you so much. I thank God every day for such a perfect son. I am so blessed to call you mine and so happy that we are so close." "Hey Bub, we love you" - Dad and all your brothers "I love you, my big little Bubba!" - Brooke Henson Memorial services will be 3:00 pm Saturday, September 21, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Stanton located at 200 W. Broadway, Stanton, TX, officiated by Phil Stroud. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Odessa.
