Kenneth Davidson Obituary

Kenneth C. Davidson was born January 5, 1936, in Big Spring, Texas. He passed away January 24, 2012 at Midland Memorial Hospital. Ken lived most of his life in Howard County. During his service in the U. S. Navy, he completed basic training in San Diego before being stationed in Phoenix, Arizona. After spending a few years in oilfield supply work in Andrews and Denver City, Texas, as well as Eunice, New Mexico, Ken owned and operated a service station in Denver City. He returned to Big Spring in 1963 and began a 32-year career with the City of Big Spring. His calling, however, was to the land, and his own business manicuring landscapes all over town on foot or tractor was not enough. He cobbled together small pieces of land on his family's old Anderson homestead to create a small farm of his own, where he hosted many at his "Red Roof Inn" and by the fireside. He constantly raised animals-horses, pigs, chickens, goats, and more-and gardens of which his family, friends, and neighbors enjoyed the bounty. His mother, Ruby Lee Reaves, preceded Ken in death. He is survived by Janelle Clark, three children, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. His daughter Julie and her husband Paul live in Midland; son Ricky and his wife Rhonda reside in Round Rock; and son Mike and his wife Sonya remain in Big Spring. Grandchildren are Melody Wiseman Barnum, Jaala Besch, David Wiseman, Courtney Stokes, Covan Davidson, and Caden Davidson. Going-Home services are scheduled at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 27 at Myers and Smith Funeral Home, 301 E. 24th Street in Big Spring. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. Bro. Randy Cotton will officiate. Steve Anderson, Gary Stallings, Jay Anderson, Craig Clark, Casey Clark, and Bradley Barnum will serve as pallbearers. Condolences and memories may also be left in the guestbook at www.MyersandSmith.com.
