Marceline Cervenka, loving mother and beloved wife, passed away on December 8, 2012, at the Christian Care Center in Mesquite, Texas, after a lengthy illness. Marceline, daughter of John and Vera McEntyre, was born July 28, 1929, in Sweetwater, Texas. At an early age, Marceline's family moved to Odessa, Texas, where she attended grade school and Odessa High school. Upon graduation in 1947, she enrolled at Texas Tech/Lubbock and was active in band programs. She was a member of the honorary band fraternity Tau Beta Sigma and a member of Beta Sigma Phi International. She finished her education at Odessa College. In 1970, she enrolled in Midland College and completed courses in educational Psychology and Elementary Education. On April 29, 1955, she married Kenneth Cervenka in Odessa, Texas. After living in various places in the Rocky Mountain Region, they settled in Denver, Colorado. She was employed by Honeywell in Denver in the communications department, which was transformed into a state-of-the-art facility during her employment. She was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Denver. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; son, Jim and his wife, Tamme; daughter, Dana Mendell and her husband, Paul; granddaughters, Sara Tucker and Afton and Alicia Mendell; brother, J.R. McEntyre and his wife, Evelyn; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marceline's parents; oldest brother, R. H. Free; and cousin, Pat Hubert preceded her in death. Marceline was a loving and compassionate mother, devoted to her family. Everywhere her journey through life took her, she touched the hearts of many with her love and courage in meeting life's challenges. She made life-long friends everywhere she lived and was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel, followed by interment in Rest Haven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
