Allan T. Hopper, 86, of Stanton, died on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 4, 2011 at the Blocker Chapel with military honors at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Bob Porterfield, officiating. He was born on July 9, 1924, in the Moore Community, in Howard County, Texas and married Wilma LaVerne Young on November 16, 1946 in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death on April 29, 2009. Allan served his country in the United States Army during WWII, in the Europeon Theatre. He grew up in Martin County and attended Fairview Schools. Allan was well known as a softball and basketball player in school and while in the Army and he loved to fish. Mr. Hopper had worked for 35 years as a mechanic for John Deere before he retired. He was a Baptist. Survivors include daughter, Linda and husband, Tommy Grissam of Big Spring; two sons, Kenneth and wife, Jan Hopper of Coppell and Johnny and wife, Linda Kay Hopper of Stanton; brother, Joe Hopper of Colorado City; 6 grandchildren, Brandon Hopper, Bryan Garner, Candy Ulmer, J.L. Hopper, Kyle Grissam, Courtney Grissam; 10 great great grandchildren, Jacob, Sarah, and Wesley Ulmer, Christopher, Dusty and Amber Hopper, Alina, Riley and Austin Hopper and Dustin Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers, 1 sister and 1 grandson, Cory Hopper. The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Midland, P.O.
