Family and friends of Reverend James H. Aldridge, former minister of New Horizons Baptist Church, gathered to celebrate his life of 67 years on December 23, 2012, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Mr. Aldridge passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012. James was born on January 29, 1945 in Atlanta, Texas to James E. and Minnie Merle Aldridge. He graduated from Atlanta High School and later earned a Bachelor's degree from East Texas Baptist University. James also received a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He married Mary E. Bean on June 27, 1967 in Dallas, Texas and she preceded him in death on December 4, 2011. James became a licensed minister at the age of 16 at First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Texas. He began pastoring churches when he was a college student and continued until retiring earlier this year. James pastored churches all across the state of Texas for 50 years. The final years of his ministry were served at Northwestern Baptist Church in Midland and New Horizons Baptist Church in Lubbock. James was also committed to ministering to special needs individuals and recently served a term as president of the board of directors at High Point Village. He is survived by his son, Scott Aldridge and wife, Sabine of Midland; two daughters, JoAnna and Melissa Aldridge of Lubbock; grandson, James Thane Aldridge of Midland; sister Lu and husband, Barron Christensen of Atlanta, Texas. James is also survived and loved by a host of relatives.
